Putting a text into Chronological Order

A jam sandwich

CAN YOU RE-ORGANISE THESE INSTRUCTIONS INTO THE CORRECT ORDER. THEN LOOK FOR WAYS THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS COULD BE IMPROVED.

  • Use the knife to spread butter on one side of both slices of
    bread
  •  Place two slices of bread on the plate
  • Cut the sandwich into four squares or four triangles
  •  Spread jam on top of the butter on one of the slices
  •  Eat and enjoy your sandwiches while they are fresh.
  •  Take the slice of bread with no jam on and put it on top of the
    jammed slice.
  •  The buttered side should go on top of the jam.

  1. First, take two slices of bread and place on a plate. You can choose white or brown bread or even a roll.
Next, use a knife (not a sharp one) to spread the butter, or margarine, evenly onto one side of both slices of bread.
Spread your choice of jam (mine would be apricot) on one of the slices.
Then place the slice with no jam on top of the jammed slice.
The buttered side should go on top of the jam.
Finally cut the sandwich into four (crossways for squares, diagonally for triangles) and serve on a plate.
For a special treat add a packet of your favourite flavour crisps.

    • Do you know any other imperative verbs? They are the bossy ones you use when you are telling someone what they need to do.

Make a list of the imperative verbs Mr Martinez uses, perhaps you could start to use these in your instructions too?
